To try and narrow down the search a little, do you have any idea:
When Richard Owen Thomas was born?
Was he already married when he emigrated and if so, what was
his wife's name?
If his mother came to America, do you know her name & age?

Subject: [Dyfed] 1851 Census
I am new to research in Wales and am wondering if there exists a census
for 1851 and if anyone is able to do lookups?
Unfortunately, I do not from what area in Wales my great-grandfather came.
He arrived in the US between the years of 1858-1860 and then returned home
for his father's funeral around 1861-1862 and the returned to the US with
his mother during that same period.
His name, Richard Owen Thomas, is unremarkable. He did name one son
Emrys Milton, another David Richard, and my grandfather, Owen Arthur. So
I do not see many clues in their names.
My great-grandfather went from NY to northern Iowa and Howard County.
This was determined by my grandfather stating that he was born in Cresco,
IA and I do find reference to a Richard O. Thomas in the 1870 census.
If anyone has suggestions or by some miracle has a connection to these
people, I would be most appreciative in hearing from them.
Richard Owen Sergeant
