The records I have show that an Elizabeth Llewelin of Eglwyswrw married
Thomas Humphrey who signed with a cross at Cilgerran on May 24 1794.
A Thomas Humphrey Junior married Elizabeth Evan who both signed with a cross
at Cilgerran on Oct.23 1767.
A John Thomas, Fisherman, married Mary Humphrey August 23,1763 ...who might
be Thomas Junior's sister....likewise Margaret Humphrey (cross) m. Joshua
Rees, yeoman of Moylgrove on 27th.Oct., 1759 and Thomas Gilbert Yeoman m.
Elizabeth Humphrey (both crosses)Oct 21 1758..........I know the Gilberts
were a family of some influence and the Rees name was prominent. At about
the same time Richard Rees of Moylgrove was marrying Margaret Lloyd at
Llanfihangel Penbedw by licence (1758) and these were usually necessary when
money or property was involved.
I don't know if it has relevance, but a Johannes Humphrey married Anne
Griffith at Manordeifi May7 1730 and a Johannes Humphrey June 14 1684
married Angharad James...rather confused by the fact that Johannes Humphrey
is shown marrying Charitas James on Nov. 14, 1684. I have learned that
names were Latinised in these records, and that Charity was sometimes a
petname used by the family......so this could be the same person.
I know there has been previous correspondence on the Humphrey name ..look in
the archives.....and as for Elizabeth Llewelin...index does not show her
A William Llewelin in 1785 married Mary Lodwick at Moylgrove...which could
be her parish......and in the Land Tax for 1786 and 1791 Llewellin William
is farming Pencelly Fawr at Etglwyswrw...patronymically Llewellin could be
the name used by Elizabeth if she was his daughter.
I'd suggest you need Will information.
