I am looking into my gr gr gr grandparents Andrew and Thomas family, David
Andrew, widower, of Kilrhedyn married Rachel Thomas, spinster, of Kenarth on
27 August 1783 in the Parish of Kenarth. The witnesses were Evan Jones,
William Jones, John Lewis and Elinor Thomas, all named on the copy of the Parish
I haven't been able to go back further than this date to find any more
information on these families. Is there anyone else researching these names,
Thomas in Kenarth and Andrew in Kilrhedyn? Any information would be appreciated.
I am still trying to find my gr grandfather's parents, Benjamin Nicholas
born approximately 1835, two Census 1851 and 1861 have stated that he was born
in Maenclochog. Is there any Parish fiche for Maenclochog that I could buy
which would enable to look for Benjamin? I would be grateful for any bit of help
to find him. Even though I have put this to the list before, I don't like
giving up on a branch of my family tree, Benjamin must have been on the 1841
Census somewhere, he was on a farm, Velindre, in Llynysfran on the 1851 Census.
On Benjamin's marriage certificate it stated that Owen Nicholas was his
father, but on the 1861 Census Benjamin was living with his said brother James
Nicholas both born in Maenclochog. James' marriage certificate says Morris
Nicholas his father, so this has been a problem. I have a copies of a Parish
Records for marriages for Maurice Nicholas and Morris Nicholas. Morris Nicholas
married Mary Davies in 1836, one of the witnesses was an Owen Harry, I have
been thinking that maybe Mary had a baby by Owen Harry, and when Mary married
Morris he gave Benjamin his surname. This is what Genealogy does to you, I look
for every angle just to settle my mind, Benjamin was born, but where was he
in 1841?? Could he have been adopted by a Nicholas family, or even born to a
I hope that someone can help me, with information on any of these families,
especially Benjamin Nicholas.
Many thanks for any help you may be able to send me.
