A brief history, I started this particular Genuki based project in Nov 2004
and it is fair to say that whilst it received support from a lot of people
it didn't catch fire with the vast majority of list members, possibly
because the original input format was seen as complicated/fussy/rigid,
Anyway, I suspended it in Sept 2006 whilst I re-thought it's future - and
relaunched the following month having put together an alternative
semi-direct data input method using the Google spreadsheets facility.
I allowed myself a year to see what difference that made, very little as it
turned out since hardly any new entries came forth in that time.
I reviewed matters a week ago and decided that I had given it a fair crack
of the whip, enough is enough.
Also, over the 3 years the databases have raised hardly a ripple of contacts
between researchers which by necessity had to be via the list.
So, as stated on each county's main page, the project is now closed to new
entries - the existing database will of course remain in situ.
I still regard it as a Genuki/list co-operation success story, as were the
book indexing and Kain/Oliver map placename extraction projects - all of
which will hopefully benefit researchers for years to come.
I am most appreciative of the support I have received from list members with
these over the years - and it has been a few !.
These days I tend to keep to what I can manage myself, as I have with the
parish chapels' databases which will be complete for CGN, CMN,
PEM and GLA when I've finished the second half of PEM (only a couple of
weeks to go).
Who knows, I may one day come back to the list with another madcap idea for
your consideration :-)

I notice that the Pembrokeshire and Camarthenshire
Families Project has closed. Has anything happened.
