My 4 x great grandfather was George Evans. He was married on December 18,
to Elizabeth Sayse at St.Ishmaels, Pembrokeshire. That marriage produced
children, a son, John, my 3 x great grandfather, born in 1796 and a
born in 1802. The baptisms for both John and Sarah are recorded at
Following the death of Elizabeth, George Evans married again to a Mary
April 3, 1830. This marriage also took place at St.Ishmaels. This marriage
5 further children, Ann, George, Ellen, Thomas and Jane.
The 1841 Census records George (age 70) with his wife Mary and children Ann,
George and Ellen.
The 1851 Census records George (age shown as 30, but from the original
can be seen that correct age is 80). By now, George, together with his
wife, Mary, and
children Ellen, Thomas and Jane were living in Talbenny, Pembrokeshire.
and Thomas are shown as having been born in St.Ishmaels, and Jane in
Georges place of birth is stated as Walwinscastle, presumably Walwyns
George died in Talbenny in February 1854 and was buried on March 5, 1854.
burial register records his age at death as 89, which would put his birth
year as 1765,
although it could probably be anywhere fom 1765 to 1771.
My problem is that despite extensive searches I have been unable to trace
recorded births or baptisms for a George Evans in Walwyns Castle,
elsewhere in the immediate locality during the period 1765 to 1771.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
