Hi All,
I am researching my mothers family history and am beginning to wish
her surname was Zebedee rather than Evans.
Perhaps someone can shed some light on here though. My grandfather
was James Parry Evans (born in Bedminster in 1886) to Evan Parry
Evans (born in Mwldan, Cardigan in 1860) and Margaret (Williams born
1857, I think).
Soon after James birth, the family moved to Deptford, London where
three more children were born, May, Lizzie and William. I know what
happened to May, but Lizzie and William are a mystery.
After their stint in London, the family moved back to Llangwynfi,
where they were in 1901 where Evan Parry Evans was a grocer at 1
Arthur Street.
From my mothers memory, there may have been some family feuding as
her parents didn't often speak of Lizzie & William apart from showing
a picture of her cousin Eira who must have been born 1925 + or - a
few. Eira must be the daughter of either William (who might have
been a teacher) and Lizzie (who does not figure in my mums
recollections at all.
Does anyone fill in any gaps?
Further back, Evan Parry Evans was born to Hannah Parry, (whose
father was named Evan Parry). I found a marriage record of a Hannah
Parry to an Isaac Evans (c 1830, Cardigan) who was a tailor and in
the census of 1861 was recorded at living alone at 150 Mwldan uchaf
(tailor), whilst Hannah Parry (who was a baker and a grocer) and son
Evan Parry Evans were living at no 113 of the same street. This is
all around the St Mary's area of Cardigan.
Does this ring any bells with any of you out there?
Thanks & regards
Jane
