Can someone help me unravel this conundrum please? Elizabeth Ann Thomas
is on the 1901 and 1911 in Liverpool, saying born Carmarthenshire in 1901
and Llanstephan in 1911. Her parents are shown as John M.Thomas and
Elizabeth (nee Jones) . She has a brother John D.Thomas born 1899 registered in
W.Derby . Her "parents" married in 1897 in Carmarthen register office, so,
about 4yrs after her birth. Her brother, now long gone, would never talk
to his sons about his sister, so they grew up knowing that there was
One of her brothers' sons is now 79 years old and would like to find out
more about his aunt. I am wondering if she was registered or just baptised
as a JONES, being her mother's maiden name, or if she was named as THOMAS,
or was she the child of A.N.Other.
Cardigan register office say they can find no record of an Elizabeth being
born to Elizabeth nee Jones around 1893.
Carmarthen records office can only suggest I contact the register office,
which I have already done without success.
Where do I go from here, has anyone got any ideas - apart from buying
every Elizabeth A ??? birth certificate around 1893 in Carmarthenshire?.
I have a photo of her with her brother when she was about 10 years old,
but that is it. Are the Carmarthenshire baptism registers available
anywhere to purchase or online?
Any thought would be much appreciated
