I'd have to agree with your husband, I have never tasted ice cream as nice
as Joe's either!

Thank you, Gareth, for this very sad information. The Italian
community in the Briton Ferry area were often mentioned among my
husband's family as respected friends and neighbours. The families
lived just opposite each other in Neath Road, Briton Ferry. My husband
still judges an excellent ice cream as "not up to their standards
I remember an Italian ice cream man who used to drive his van down the
coast road in Cardiganshire every week or fortnight. We used to look
forward to our special treat. I always thought he travelled from
Aberystwyth to Cardigan town but his route may have been different.
Anyhow, he failed to arrive one day and then the rumour started that he
was a spy but no one could believe it.
In the same way, I have a photo of my grandfather taken just before 1914
which was taken by a travelling German photographer, who was later
arrested as a spy, but what proof did they have in those days?
