May I suggest an alternative to those already mentioned.
Trinity College, was founded in 1848 as the first training college in Wales established
through the efforts of Bishop Connop Thirlwal of St. David's "to provide a
training for young natives of the Principality selected as fitted for the teaching"
and opened in 1848 with 60 Anglican students.
The Presbyterian College was also called "The Academy" it occupied a variety of
premises throughout its history in Carmarthen, from Lammas Street, to Rhydygors House and
finally to premises on The Parade where it was located when it finally closed in 1961. It
was the first college in Wales to offer degree qualifications being granted a Royal
Warrant in 1842 as an affiliate of the University of London. Prior to the establishment
of the Theological College in Lampeter in 1842 the Presbyterian College trained many
