You refer to just Carmarthen in the Glamlist posting but it
is in fact the parish of Llannon in the county of Carmarthenshire[CMN], a
source of frequent confusion since there is also a parish called Carmarthen
Although no longer offered on the Lookup Exchange for lookups I do have a
database of Llannon marriages purchased from SWGI and the actual index
entry is as
1779 10/12 Thomas PEREGRINDE? Llangyfelach Mary DAVID married in Llanon.
I read that to say that he came from Llangyfelach in Gla but as there is no
stated parish for her then it is implied she was from Llannon , which is why
they married there presumably.
Llangyfelach and Llannon parishes are not that far apart despite being on
opposite sides of the county line, and of course, Llangyfelach butts on to
Swansea,St Mary parish too.
So, no real problem with a birth in Swansea, and it would be Swansea, St
parish probably although I see from Parish Regs of Wales that St Johns
have had registers starting c 1760.
Not sure where the "both from Swansea" info comes from, or her middle name,
presumably not the actual PR entry ? Would be interested in knowing that.
BTW, I see from the Gla FHS pre 1837 marriage fiche that there are quite a
few Peregrin/Peregrine/Pergrin male entries with
Might be worth while you buying
the fiche to perhaps help you establish a family grouping ? There are bound
to be several female entries too. The ones I noticed were in the approx
The Gla FHS website has details of fiche for sale, and membership,it is on
Also, the Llangyfelach PRs are on the Gla page of the Lookup Exchange, see
below , and the LE parish entry is hotlinked to the corresponding parish
entry on the equally "well endowed" Genuki Glamorgan pages.
And when following up Mary's line in Llannon perhaps you should check out
the Dyfed FHS website too, on
In a spirit of fairness, and it is seasonal, I should say that the SWGI I
mention above is the South Wales Genealogy Index , a commercial site, which
