Pryse & Patricia,
Before you both get too excited, let me step in here for a moment! :-)
Pryse, we worked out from the marriage date you gave me that your William
MORGAN and Mary PUGH were married in the parish of Llanllwchaearn, CGN.
Patricia states her James MORGAN and his wife, Jane JONES, were born in
Aberystwyth (Parish of Llanbadarn Fawr). There is, in all probability, no
relationship between these MORGAN gentlemen, I'm afraid. Many unrelated
families from CGN ended up in Ohio and Wisconsin --- many bearing the same
forenames & surnames, prompting the adoption of middle initials or middle
names they weren't baptised with in Wales.
Patricia, it appears only the original PR for Llanbadarn Fawr includes the
years you need to locate the baptisms of James MORGAN and Jane JONES. (This
is held at the NLW Aberystwyth.) The BT's (filmed by the LDS) are missing
1774-1810 and resume at 1811. You'd be able to locate their marriage entry
and their children's baptisms, if you haven't already done so.

Subject: Re: MORGAN
Here is a note I posted recently about my Pryse and Morgan lines. My
William Morgan married his Mary Pugh in the same Parish as your James and
came over to the US to the same place as your James. I think that it is
likely that they are related, perhaps brothers!
The Pryze family lived in Tredagar, Monmouth Co., Wales and the male may
have had the name Pryze Pryze. His son, David Pryze married Gwynfed Morgan
in 1821 and they had 3 children: Elizabeth Pryze, b. 1822, John Price, b.
1824, and James Morgan Pryse, b. April 15, 1826. Gwynfred died in 1832 and
in 1817 or 1838, David emigrated to the USA with his children, changed his
surname to Pryse and settled in at either Pomeroy (mines) or nearer
Ravenna, OH, 1842. David died in OH in 1842.
The Morgan family lived near Abeystwyth, Cardigan Co., South Wales.
William Morgan was born July 2, 1802 and his wife Mary Pugh Morgan was born
June 1803; they were married in 1820. William and Mary had several
children, all of whom (who were born) came with them to the USA in 1837 to
settle in Ravenna, OH: Margaret (b. March 14, 1821, married Thomas), Jane
(b. Feb. 7, 1823, married a Jewell or Thomas), Mary (b. July 4, 1825,
married James Morgan Pryse), William (b. Sept. 15, 1830, mariied Betty
Davis), Catherine (b. Aug. 1832, married a Haethrode), Elizabeth (b. Sept.
26, 1835, married a Daniels), Enoch (b. May 9, 1838, married Amy Tuttle),
Ann (b. Oct. 21, 1840, married a Parsons), Hugh (b. Nov. 3, 1843, married
Ann Williams), and Lewis (b Sept. 12, 1845, married a Sarah or Hattie).
William Morgan died in 1884, his wife Mary Pugh Morgan died in 1888, both
My great great grandparents: James Morgan Pryse (1826-1891) became a
preacher of some repute and married Mary Morgan (1825-1903) on May 19, 1848
in Ravenna, OH and preached in OH, KS, MN, NB and WI. I have a fair
accounting of some their decendants. I know nothing more about James
Morgan Pryse's sibs, Elizabeth Pryze and John Price. For the sake of
relating to some of the family who may have researched the origins I'll
offer a partial tracking of family. James Morgan and Mary Morgan Pryse had
several children. William Stratton Pryse (1849-1928 in Oakland, CA)
married Ella Turner Perkins (1852-) , March 25, 1875 and they had 5
children. Mary Gilson Pryse (1850-1935 in Galesville, WI) may not have
married. Elizabeth Pryse (1852-1892 in Gand Rapids, MN) married Louis
Hobart Hawkins (-1892 in Grand Rapids, MN) Dec. 12, 1874 and they had 3
children. Catherine Winifred "Kate" (1853-1946 in Spokane, WA) married
Thaddeus Legrand Matthews (1844-1918 in Spokane, WA) Apr. 30, 1870 and they
had 5 children, including my grandmother, Mary Edna (1874-1968). Annie
Pryse (1855-1900 in North Bend, WI) married Thomas Bibby June 16, 1892 and
they had 2 daughters. James Morgan (1859-1942 in Los Angeles, CA, a
gnostic & theosophist) married Jessie Mayer (1902-1928 in Los Angeles, CA)
and they had no children. Jane D. Pryse (1859-1891 in North Bend, WI) may
not have married. John Pryse (1863-1952 in Los Angeles, CA, also a
theosophist) never married.
