Hi to All:
I am trying to locate the parish where my 2nd. Great Grandfather was born.
only information I have is taken from family notes which say he was born at
Saron near Cross Inn on February 11, 1836 and married at the Episcopal Church
in Llanedy (Llanedi, CMN. I think)
In checking the OS map the only Saron I can find is just west of Ammanford,
CMN., but no where near the four Cross Inns listed in the index. To compound
the problem my Grandfathers name was Henry B. JONES and consequently I
hesitate to request a lookup without more specific information.
I would very much appreciate any help, clues, or guidance in solving this

The "west of Ammanford " Saron is in Llandybie parish[CMN] which is the next
door parish to Llanedy. This is the one you want, Ammanford was known as Cross
Inn sometime in the C19, is shown as such on the map contained in my copy of
the History of the Parish of Llandybie by Gomer Roberts 1939.
I'd check the Llandybie records if I were you.
In fact, with two christian names you may find the search easier than a Jones
one usually is !
The Llandybie PRs are not on the Lookup Exchange unfortunately.. You could ask
CMN Records Office for a one off search, their email button on
under Useful Welsh research places.
The exact date and place might qualify for a freebie search ! Just hope he was
baptised , and not in a nonconformist chapel :-)
Mail me direct if you are interested in buying a copy of the above parish
history, translated by Ivor Griffiths, I can give you his address etc. It is
one of the more comprehensive histories I have come across, well worth the
cost. Not name indexed though.
