William Henry Scourfield (son of Henry & Elizabeth Scourfield)
was sheriff of Pembrokeshire in 1812, and M.P. for Haverfordwest in 1818 and
He married his first wife, Maria the daughter of Lietenant Colonel Goat of
Bent Ely Hall in Suffolk, she died on 20th August 1835, at the age of 53, and
later married at Manorwen on 28th December 1837, Louisa the daughter of
Richard Bowen of Manorowen.
There was no issue from either of the marriages, and on his death on 31st
January 1843, at the age of 65, the direct line of the ancient family of
Scourfield of New Moat came to an end.
The family estate, under his Will, vested in his sister Mary Rowley for her
life, and thereafter in his nephew John Henry Phillips, (who was sheriff for
Pembrokeshire in 1833 and in 1862) assumed the name and arms of Scourfield by
