Hi Peter and Chuck also,
Thanks for the replies to the 'second front'. It's strange how I had been
looking at the emails with 'All Quiet' in their subject. This then led me on
to thinking of 'all quiet on the western front'.... which in turn activated
my memory about the second front story.
So, even when it's quiet you can still catch something to trigger off a
spark of imagination. Lateral thinking I think it might be called. Anyway,
sorry to have gone on but thanks to everyone,

I guess I am giving my age away but I remember the campaign to "Open up
second front" quite well. During the period 1943/44 and prior to
6th 1944 there was agitation to invade Europe on the western side to
pressure on the Russian Front. Needless to say the Allies resisted
until there was a sufficient build up of troops, mainly USA, Canadian and
British, tp be able to attempt the Invasion on June 6th.
