Well, since there doesn't seem to be a lot of genealogy going on for whatever
reason, I will mention this.
The mention of the western front brought up lots of memories--also a function
of my age.
Then, coincidently, our TV screens here in the USA were filled with pictures
of two incidents where black-shirted and uniformed police were beating our
citizens with batons and gassing them. The scenes were brutal, indeed.
Perhaps they have been shown in other parts of the world.
The only difference between today and 65 years ago is that the insignia on
the uniforms say police, instead of SS.......and it is here in America, the
font of freedom.
It is only a short jump to seeing Nazi armbands on our police.
Ah, yes, the days of the second front. History repeats itself.
