It seems that My GETHIN's were of the poor tribe.
As Rowland GETHIN my 7 x great, grandfather who's "Will" was dated
19th;of march 1729,He left to each of his children five shillings
They were Joan,[my link] Katherine died 10th;Feb;1738,
John died 6th;october 1746.He married to Sissil who died 7 may 1741.
and Elizabeth died 18 august 1742.
All of them were of Oystermouth in the gower.
So what a difference 'eh?
600 quid would make 820,000 quid today.
What would 5 shillings from 1729 be worth today?
It would be 25 pence if it were today.
Not enough for a box of matches!
