I read it that his wife had her own property or money (i.e., line 36, except
what was left to my wife). I think 1825, she would have been entitled to
her widow's share, but not sure of this.

That makes sense and something I did not think of. This is not my
family, just a will I transcribed and I thought it may be of interest/
What does strike me about this will, no family members are Executors,
the child remains nameless (usually viz) and there is no
discretion/trust unto his wife. Which is why I suspected an
illegitimate child - however, I didn't think of an apprentice.
