I've been off the list for a couple of months, I haven't done any
research for ages so I'm slowly getting back into it!!!.
I want to do some research on my grandfather's army service. I sent off
my £25 a couple of years ago to Kew and of course the answer came back
that his records were amongst the 'destroyed' ones. I understand that
information can be found from other types of records such as medals
issued. My grandfather was a regular who lied about his age to enlist
sometime between 1906 and 1910 at a guess. Two of his brothers were also
soldiers apparently as was his grandfather.
I'm not going to have time to go to Kew myself so I intend hiring a
researcher. I've not done this before so my questions are - How do I
hire a reliable one, how do they charge and what can I expect to be
charged and finally, any recommendations?
