The 1939 Register done in the September has 48 people Ann or Annie but none have a birthday matching that of Annie
which was 24 Oct 1879 irrespective of their surname ...,.although Annie Roberts was in Bradford on Avon for the
Marriage of Olwen .
Re. Marriage Jonah Davies did marry an Ann Davies.........the marriage was registered in April-June Quarter
1876 at Newcastle Emlyn.......you would need a certificate of the marriage to check the father of Ann.
Drefach is a village (or one of them!) not far from Lampeter - A475 Newcastle Emlyn road
1881 census for the Davies Family shows Anne Davies with her parents Thomas and Lettice BUT her occupation is given as “Farmers Wife” which is curious ! If married, then her husband would appear to also have the surname Davies. (there is also a child under 1 in this census, but his father is David Davies…(from a later census) and Anne does not appear to be his mother.
I have tried to find a marriage, but failed as far as chapel/church records are concerned, but I have come across a 1901 census which shows :-
Johnah (Jonah) Davies, Railway worker born 1851 and his wife Anne Davies born 1852 and two daughters. ALSO of Llandyfriog where the farm Wernfach was. It might be a possibility. One of the daughters or later children might be the parent of the children in your 1934 photo.
Found Jonah Evans, still in the Llandyfriog area in the 1911 census… with one of the daughters (Sarah Anne Davies)… Jonah is now WIDOWED and a GROCER. So either this is not the husband of Anne Davies, or the 1934 photo is not Anne Davies, born 1852, but could be the Sarah Anne Davies her daughter.
Who can help me with thefollowing:
Looking for a marriage for Anne Davies b 1852 as daugther of Thomas Davies
and Lettice Davies, Wernfach, Llandyfriog.
In the 1881 census Ann is still with her parents, then 29.
I have a photo of this Ann taken in 1934 where is stands besides two
children called Gwyn and Sarah Ellen. Above the photo it says Drefach.
Wonder if she moved to the village Drefach or that her farm was called
Drefach. I tried to find her in the Llandyfriog area. Unfortunately i dont
know nothing about her husband. No name or date of birth.
Covering the Welsh counties of Cardiganshire (Ceredigion), Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
This is a mailing list for the old counties of Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire ie. the modern DYFED.
It is ESSENTIAL that you read the Do's and Don'ts section of the list site at http://home.clara.net/daibevan/DyfedML.html BEFORE posting any messages to the list
Please begin messages relevant to only one county with the appropriate 3 letter county code.
Please give as much information as possible for the background to your question. It is frustrating for someone to spend time seeking information only to be told later that it was already known. Showing you already have some information may encourage a lister 'to go the extra mile' to help you find more.
