Welcome! Your English is wonderful--please do not make any excuses for your
wonderful grasp of our language.
My name is Rose Mary Keller Hughes. I was born in America but my parents
were both born in Szemlac--once Hungary, now Romania. My Bartolf
grandmother's (maternal) side originated, we think, in Mosbach. They first
came to Izmény, then to Tófö, then to Mezöberény, and finally to Szemlac.
My Wagner grandfather's (maternal) side came from Schweinfurt, we think,
then to Mezöberény, then to Liebling and finally to Szemlac. My father's
side (Pinczés/Keller) perhaps came from Alsace Lorraine, then to
Balmazujváros, then to Szemlac.
I am a retired high school teacher--business subjects. When I retired, I
taught three more years in a university here in our area--I taught the deaf
computers and word processing. Then I worked in a residential home for
women and children in crisis. I am now finally retired. Besides working on
my family roots, I love to travel with my husband. In 2002 we were in
Szemlac for a week--it was wonderful! We also love to dance--especially the
polka and jitterbug!
So happy you are with us. How very generous of you to offer help in
researching! There are many good people on this list--it is so nice to know
that you are one of them.
