Forwarding it to you.

Keeping track of "The Second Generation"
Seeking Participants for an Art Project
"The Second Generation"
You were bom in the late 1940s, 1950s or 1960s in Karlsruhe, Boston,
Adelaide or in many other parts of the world. Apart from belonging to this
generation you may also share a further biographical element: your parents
come either from Silesia, East- and West-Prussia, Pomerania and the Baltic
Provinces, i.e. they are either Sudeten-Germans, Transylvanian-Saxons or
Danube-Swabians. You are therefore a child of displaced persons from
East-German sectors and residential areas in the south-east and
of Europe. The reason for your parental emigration lies in World War II.
Belonging to "The Second Generation" now living in Europe, North- or South
America and Australia today you may come into the center of my
social-cultural project, provided you have worked or still work in an
cultural sense or manner, l would like to get into contact with you to
out more about "homeland" over many different aspects and what it means
you as "The Second Generation".
Homeland: what does this mean for you today ?
How did you experience "Heima" in your childhood and youth?
Your parents emigration: which footprints did it leave on your biography?
Meeting Point: Internet forurn
An active group of about ten members meet in a vivid exchange of
life-experiences over an Internet forum for a period of about 6 months:
writing, telling, describing, asking and responding to questions, thus
getting to know each other better.
Where? The closed Internet forum is only open to the active group members
and will be moderated by me,
When? Approx, between April and September 2007
Languages? Good knowiedge of both German and English is required so that
so that speech-flow and
written-word remain easy.
Central themes resulting from the Internet forum including "portraits" of
the forum members will be exhibited within an Art-Room-Installation in the
Danube-Swabian Central-Museum in Ulm, South-Germany in 2008.
if you would like to take part in this project or you have any further
questions, please don't hesitate to ring or send me an e-mail.
I was born 1955 in a srnall village near Heidelberg (Germany), myself a
child of a Danube-Swabian family, who fled from former Yugoslavia during
World War II. I am an artist as well as a social scientist and my projects
envelop many themes around daily-culture, biographies, documentaries and
