Subject: [DVHH] Officially saying hello
Very fascinating topics that go through this list. It's definitely
opening up a world to me!
Just thought I'd officially introduce myself. My name is Lori Straus.
I do research for both the Batschka (Gara, Csatalja, Ridjica, and
Stanisic) and the Banat (Semlak, Schöndorf, possibly Seitin/
Scheiting, though this town is new to my list).
From the Batschka, I'm researching Heffner, Wagner, Roth, and
Zimmermann. From the Banat, it's Bortscher and Wolf at the moment.
Thanks to help from Rose Mary and semlak.de, I may have found my Opa
Wolf's first cousin in Germany. The letter went out last week, so I'm
nervously sitting here, hoping that I've made the connection. I
believe my grandfather was raised by his aunt and uncle, but I don't
know. (His name was Martin Wolf, b Jan 27 1922, his mother was
Katharina Wolf, b. 1901, and her father was Andreas Wolf, b. Jan 26
1876. We don't know the father.)
I have one question: what did "Herzkrank" refer to in the death
register? I do speak German, but "heart sick" doesn't quite work for
Looking forward to exchanging notes!
