There are separate treaties made with Croatia and Serbia and Austria. I do not know if
treaties were made with Germany. However the Donauschwaben in Germany did get reparations
compensations from Germany directly. My father did get it from Germany. There were other
rights the German received from the German government. Such as retirement and in the case
of my mother she received money for her children.
I do not think it makes a difference if you fled or were expelled from your home. I have a
friend in Austria who applied for his property and I do know he fled. Now I do not know if
he volunteered this information to the Serbs or not.
At any rate you need to have the Austrian citizenship to qualify. As I mentioned the
Donauschwaben in the USA did not want to bother with it as it seams to us a rather unfair
deal the Austrian reached with the Serbs.
As I said I am not sure what the positions of the Canadian Donauschwaben are.
