I have copies of some pages of the Ebendorf family book that was shared with me several
years ago by Laura Thompson. Laura, are you still online??
Ebendorf was the filial parish for Eichenthal (Gyulatelep) where my great grandparents
and their 4 daughters lived.
With some new info and places....I reviewed it again after questions arose with in the
'cousins' conclave !! lol
Here is my predictament:
on page 233 under #1885 MAYER, Anton and
Beiszer, Margaretha it lists two daughters:
1. Anna b 1894 Grossjetscha, d 18 Feb 1897 Eichenthal
2. Barbara b 24 July 1896 Eichenthal.
(the oldest daughter Katherina was married at this time)
BUT, my grandmother Magdalena "Lena" (or perhaps Helen) is not listed. She
was born 1892 in Grossjetscha and they moved to Eichenthal shortly after Anna was born.
HOWEVER..she is not listed with the family.
My first thought was that this was devised after she emigrated to the US.....however on pg
is her sister Katharine with her husband REITER, Nikolaus and their three children.
my grandmother Lena emigrated in March 1909 along with her brother-in-law Nikolaus REITER.
I am thinking he wouldn't be listed either then.
OR was he listed because his wife and children were there until 1913??
If this is so, Lena's son Johann Mayer would be there with his grandparents Anton and
Margaretha Beiszer Mayer after 1910.
Lena did work as a servant in the home of another family. I do not know where exactly.
Their name was KOHL.
If anyone has this book could you search under KOHL and see if she was listed with their
family...?as a servant??
