Anyway, two questions: Does anyone know if Western Morning News have
website where you can get a list of available books?
The Hooe Barton book you bought last week was published by The Friends of
Hooe Barn rather than the WMN.
Can someone tell me the correct way to pronounce HOOE?
It's this one:
c) HOO (as in rhymes with the owl noise)
Can I put in a plug for the Plymouth Library Services catalogue on the Web?
You'll find it at www.libcat.info
Most of the stock of the Local & Naval Studies collections is on there
(about 8 years in the late 80s/early 90s are missing). They also index a
range of periodicals and newspapers, with entries appearing from Jan 2000
onwards (the earlier ones are on cards still). Just do a Keyword search
under the area of the city which interests you.
There are only four books listed which are relevant to Hooe (including the
Hooe Barton one), but over 20 newspaper articles, including a review of the
the Hooe Barton book.
Hope this helps.
