Thanks Maureen. You have been so much help. I'm going to Plymouth as well as they
moved to Plymouth and Marie Rundle Bravin married a Sobey ..so both the Tavistock records
office and Plymouth and West Devon are wonderful sources to know about. I don't have
much time, but I can try, and now I know where to llok it will always be helpful in the
future. I've discontinued ancestry as they did not have anything as yet, and am
considering Find My Past now. I've also previously looked at IGS, but nothingand , as
I see from the links I have followed from the many posts here., they do indeen have no
records. I have yet to figure out how to get record prints for 1P, but I do see them
Thanks, I have so much new info and sources , I am happily overwhelmed, and more
importantly I can now visit (leaving in a couple of weeks, hence the time contraints..and
finding accomodation..in Scotland, not in Devon (which is fantastic), is time consuming.
Unfortunately I've already prepaid (no refunds)too much of the trip to alter it now
and spend more time in Devon, but if there's even a next time, I know where I'll
be spending a lot more of it.
I checked out that surname link you provided too. So much here.:-)

Subject: Rundle and Bravin
I've changed your subject to Rundle and Bravin.
As you will be in Tavistock for a short time, you can see the fiche for the
Tavistock area (not the whole of Devon) at Tavistock Library, opposite the
Bus Station in Plymouth Road - Telephone 01822 612218 or look on the
website for opening times.
The Plymouth and West Devon Record office is just 14 miles south from
Tavistock via the A386 and they hold ALL fiche for all Devon parish
Images and indexes of the majority of registers for the West Devon Area are
on Find My Past.
You might like to investigate these options before your visit.
There are many Rundle instances in Devon, not so many Bravin - check out the
numbers on Devon FHS's Surnames button http://www.devonfhs.org.uk/
These indexes are also on Find My Past, or you can get printouts for the
name at a very reasonable cost - 1p per entry.
Enjoy your visit and good luck with your search.

My first post. I'm researching Rundle and Bravin in devon (as well as Sobey).
I'm stuck on Elizabeth (called Betsy) Rundle born around 1802 to 1807 (her age varies
on census records).
She states her place of birth(on census records) as Stoke Climsland.
. Thomas BRAVIN married Elizabeth RUNDLE 17 Oct 1826 Tavistock,
Their firstborn was Maria Rundlle Bravin , baptised in Tavistock in 1827 (I think)
My problem is an Elizabeth Rundle born abt 1804 in Stoke Climsland married an entirely
differnet person (according to other family trees) with an entirely different family.
Could there be TWo different Elizabeth Rundles, both born around the same time in Stoke
Climsland? It looks so tiny?
How do I find out? I know I'm descnded from Maria Rundle Bravin, so I know an
Elizabth Rundle (in my case) married a Thomas Bravin. The othetr family trees have
documentation that their Elizabth Rundle born 1804 in Stoke Climsland married into a
I'm coming over that way in June and staing for a night in Tavistock..so can I look
at parish registers or microfilms there, or is it all kept on Exeter. (as I'm only
there for a day I guess I will not have a lot fo time, time to looks at Graves..which are
probably worn away(if like other family mambers in Essex and Kent:)
Family names Rundle, Bravin
