If the marriage to Mary Allan in 1825 is a second marriage, there is a marriage of a
Richard HILL to Mary MAYSE at Sydenham Damerel 09 12 1817. Sydenham Damerel, Milton Abbot
and Dunterton are all very close to each other.
There are transcriptions of the Milton Abbot PRs on Genuki Devon and the age of 58 is
given for the Richard HILL buried there on 26 Nov 1838 . Mary HILL buried on 03 Nov 1837

Subject: [DEV] Marriage of Richard Hill
I am searching for the marriage of Richard Hill, probably somewhere in
Devon. I knew that his wife's name was Mary, from the baptisms of his
daughters Mary Ann in 1818 at Lydford and Hannah in 1821 at Milton Abbot.
Richard was described as a labourer and as a farmer.
Recently I discovered that there was a previously unknown son, John, bapt
abt 1826 at Milton Abbot. In the PR it said he came from Estycottin in
parish of Dunterton. John married Hannah Jane Blatchford and with wife and
daughter Elizabeth later migrated to Ontario, Canada. On his death cert the
names of both parents were given - Richard Hill and Mary Allan. I have not
been able to find the marriage of Richard and Mary.
I did find what I think are the deaths of Richard and Mary - Richard died in
1838 in Milton Abbot (in Milton Abbot PR says hamlet of Eastacott in parish
of Dunterton) while Mary died the previous year on 3 Nov 1837, also in
Eastacott in parish of Dunterton. I sent for Richard's death cert but no age
was given. Apparently he was found dead of Apoplexy on the road and only the
coroner was listed on the cert. No family members.
What can I do next? Has anyone come across a possible marriage for Richard
