I'm not sure which newspapers you are searching but at findmypast I found
references to Plymouth shipping in many regional newspapers outside Devon.
It seems that Sea was appointed to carry letter mails to the Colonies at the
time in which you are interested so, for example, in Lloyds Weekly Newspaper
27 April 1851: "For Port Philip - Troubador ...; Sea, Plymouth, 24th; .. It
will take a bit of searching because 'sea' comes up in more general
Because 'Queen' and 'Bay' are also rather common, it took me quite a
to piece together details of my GGfather's time as an apprentice on 'Queen
of the Bay' in the 1860s but was well worth the effort.
