Marriage of William CHOWN & Eleanor FORD took place on 7 Nov 1836 in St.
Andrew's Church, Plymouth according to the Deanery of the 3 Towns CD.
In addition there is this baptism in Plymouth Charles.
Mary Ann Chown, 20 Oct 1837 whose parents were William (a mariner) and
Eleanor of New Street.
And this one in St. Andrews
Eleanor Coombs Heathman FORD, 21 Feb 1819 whose parents were Francis (a
dairy man) and Ann of Plymouth. She is of the right age to be William
CHOWN's wife. There are a few other baptisms for children of Francis & Ann.
William, Eleanor and family can be found on the 1841 & 1851 censuses. Let me

Checking the FreeBMD recently we came across the birth of a William
FORD Chown b 1852 Plymouth. The birth certificate shows the Father as
William Chown (fisherman) and mother Eleanor Chown formerly FORD.
The 1861 census shows William Chown married age 46 years Occ: Fisherman
Plymouth with wife Eleanor Chown age 43 years born Plymouth. together with
We have not been able to confirm but suspect that Eleanor Chown nee Ford
the sister of John Ford who was the father of Alfred William Ford see
family (a) above.
The IGI shows a marriage of William Chown born 1818 Plymouth to Eleanor-
abt 1836 Plymouth Devon (submitted by a LDS member-no source information
Our thoughts are that Edwin Chown b 1823 Salcombe and William Chown who
according to census was born Plymouth could be related and wonder if
can confirm this, also any details of the marriage of William Chown and
Eleanor Ford would be much appreciated.
