Hi Folks, the Babbacombe & St Marychurch Local History Society is currently
focusing on collecting photos and information of events in the area during
WW2 with the culmination being an open day next year.
If you were , or know anyone who was, in Torquay, and particularly
Babbacombe & St Marychurch, at any time during the 1940's we would love to
hear from you with your memories and copies of any photos you may have.
There was an RAF Hospital, RAF training, the Americans in the lead up to
D-Day, some businesses moved down here from high risk areas. Of course there
were tragedies- the RAF Hospital was bombed, as was the Parish church of St
Mary the Virgin, when many children attending Sunday School were killes.
If you can help, please contact me direct and NOT through Devon-L.
Forgive me this appears twice.
