Hi, the name Hooper is very populous in Devon They may have made the iron hoops which
held wooden barrels together …. In this case on the advent of the Civil War there is a
fair amount of upheaval in the country . If he was christened in 1604 in Totnes , and
assuming he was born the same year , he would have been 16 when married and fathering
children . He must have not been landed either tenant or owner of land , as he moved so
freely , so probably had a trade , and was a journeyman of some sort Totnes is a good
long way from Upottery and even further from Barnstaple . What evidence do you have for
Susan ?? and what makes you think this is all the same Robert Hooper ???

I’m searching for the marriage of the above around 1620 to Susan ( surname unknown) they
had three children :
George Ch 1621 Upottery
William Ch1626 Barnstaple
Mary Ch 1628 Barnstaple
Robert was christened in 1604 in Totnes and died 1641 in Barnstaple.
Cant find a marriage in Totnes , Barnstaple or Upottery to fit.
