Whilst searching the newspaper archives I came across the following in the Hampshire
Telegraph 20 Feb 1809:
"Lately died, at Newfoundland, Captain John ROW, of Torquay, Devon, agent for John
Hill Esq. of London, on the Newfoundland fishery. In him were truly centered the milk of
human kindness and sterling integrity; it was only to know him and esteem would instantly
follow; he has left a large family to lament his loss. He commanded the Dragon privateer
of Torbay in the American War and, after much previous success, was taken by the
Hope it adds a bit of biographical detail to somebody's tree.
