There were many COOK/COOKE families in Sticklepath during the census
years 1841-1911. I am interested in the family of William COOK (1755 -
1828) and Susanna TAYLOR (c1765-1829) who had 7 children in
Sticklepath. William is either the son of Thomas and Rebecka COOK,
baptized in Sampford Courtenay 4th March 1756 or son of John and Ann
(FROST)COOK, baptized 7th September 1755 in Sampford Courtenay. I am
leaning towards John, because of the family names (several Johns but
never a Thomas).
I would also like to make a connection between John COOK (1770-1845)
(married to Agness Rowden in 1803 and landlord of the Cornish Inn) and
the other COOK families in Sticklepath. For a small village, there were
certainly a lot of them!
Is anyone researching these families? I have good access to parish
records on findmypast and census on ancestry, but I wondered if someone
has already had a look at these families.
I would be grateful for any advice,
Margaret in Ottawa
