I am seeking to find WILLIAMS & WOOD Families said Born
The first sighting of William WILLIAMS 26 is in the 1861
Census of Alderney, Channel Island with Wife Sarah Ann 33? (Believed to be
Nee WOOD?), both being recorded as Born: England.
I believe the next sighting of William WILLIAMS is December
¼ 1867, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, when a William Henry WILLIAMS Married
Sarah SIMS (His 2nd Wife?)
William Henry 37 & Sarah WILLIAMS 23 next appear in the 1871
Census of Wroxall, Isle of Wight, William Born DEVONSHIE, Sarah Godshill,
Isle of Wight.
1881 Census of Wroxall, Isle of Wight: Sarah WILLIAMS 38
Born Wroxall, Isle of Wight with no sign whatsoever found of Husband William
It is believed that Sarah WILLIAMS Died 1885 Aged 41 and is
buried Godshill, Isle of Wight.
William Henry WILLIAMS reappears:
1891 Census of Brading, Isle of Wight: William H. WILLIAMS
Widower 57 Born Devonshire.
1901 Census of Brading, Isle of Wight: William H. WILLIAMS
Widower 67 Born Devonshire.
It is believed that William Henry WILLIAMS Died and is
Buried Brading, Isle of Wight.
What I would like to know is what became of William Henry
WILLIAMS in the 1881 Census, as try as I might: I just cannot find any trace
I realise this isnt a Devon List concern, but; it would be
most interesting to find where he was for the 1881 Census, as he appeared
Back to Devon.
Again: Try as I might: I just cannot find any trace of
William/ William Henry WILLIAMS prior to the 1861 Census of Alderney,
Channel islands, as he always was recorded as Born Devonshire 1834/1835.
He would be in the 1841 & 1851 census somewhere???
Re the WOOD family:
It would seem that the Sarah ANN WILLIAMS who was in the
1861 Census of Alderney, Channel Islands was Nee WOOD and it would seem her
parents were Thomas 40 & Sarah 43 WOOD who first appeared in the 1851 Census
of Alderney, Channel Islands who there had a Daughter Sarah A. WOOD All Born
Ive not been able to find where Thomas WOOD & Sarah were
married and can find no trace of either they and Daughter Sarah A prior to
the 1851 Census of Alderney, Channel Islands, nor can I find what became of
Sarah Ann WILLIAMS (Nee WOOD) after the 1861 Census of Alderney, Channel
So: It is believed that William/William Henry WILLIAMS
Married 1) Sarah Ann WOOD? & 2) Sarah SIMS.
If any fellow Lister is researching either family or can
assist; I would be most appreciative.
