Hi Elizabeth -- Ancestry has the Melissa Lucas Family Tree, including
Peter D Messenger, Birth: Sep 1940 - Devon, Death: 1942 - Exeter, Devon
Parents: Percival C Messenger (1911-1995), Beatrice Elsie Boult
(1912-1976), both married very young, Exeter, Dec qtr 1929.
Peter had three siblings, including a brother Colin who died in 2000, whose
wife died in 2016. From that marriage Peter has four nieces and one nephew
who are apparently still alive.
In the 1939 Register Percival and "Elsie (Beatrice)", and two more closed
records, are living in Exeter CB, and Peter Messenger is recorded as
Civilian War Dead by CWGC but without any family relationship.

Subject: [DEV] APRIL /MAY RAID 1942
In the introduction to the list of the dead in
the May 1942 blitz of Exeter there is mention of a 12 month old baby Peter
Messenger who was killed. Apparently he had no parents with him
..........This is odd . He was of Cumberland Terrace , Paris Street.
Freebmd gives a Peter D Messenger birth in the Sept 1/4 of 1940 with
mother`s maiden name Boult........but I cannot find a marriage of a
Messenger and a Boult ........? How did the authorities know who he was
......? And the baby in Freebmd would be older than 12 months if he was
born in the Sept 1/4 of 1940 and dying in the April of 1942 . I suppose
the only way forward is to get his birth certificate ...which I may just do
