I also descend directly out of a Johanna BAWDEN born abt 1753 in Manaton,
married Thomas LOVEYS (1744-1823) in Christow on 2 Jan 1770, and she died in
Christow in Feb 1824.
Over the years there has not been much interest shown on the Devon List
regarding BAWDEN. Although I have not put time into my BAWDENs, I have been
collecting any information that showed up on the list with the view that at
some stage I will devote some time into my BAWDEN ancestors.
As a result my database contains quite a great many unlinked BAWDENs of
Devon. While my line of Devon seems primarily connected to Christow, other
BAWDENs in my data seem mainly connected to North Molton, Stoke Rivers, and
Regarding BAWDEN, there are also the BOWDEN offshoots!
I am also interested in another obscure family name of Manaton, Wilmott
STOKEY Abt 1610-1676, who married Olliver NOSWORTHY in 1629 at Manaton.
If you think I may be able to assist, please let me know.

Hi Bev, that was me. No relation as far as I can see. I have Bowdens of
Staverton, but no Pikes.

Forget who mentioned this name this week, or was it BOWDEN of
Marriage License Exeter, John BAWDEN of Ashburton & Margery PIKE of
Lic. 15 May 1702
