Hi, Access to archives has 23 references to Creese in the DRO and these include a
William Creese who in 1836 is described as " of Brixham , labourer. Born in
Kingswear, when a child moved with mother to Brixham ....at 8 bound apprentice by parish
indenture to John Hannaford of Churston.....hired himself as a weekly servant at 2/8d per
week .......returned to Brixham , married 4 yrs ago ......appended note from overseer that
examinant belongs to Churston Ferrers, and need not be removed, unlikely to need much
relief . " 30 years earlier there is a Robert Creese in 1802 who is " born in
Diptford , came to Brixham , aged 14yrs bound himself apprentice .....for 3 yrs , then
worked for a year , and lived with Charles Chown of Brixham for 3 years , then married and
removed to Kingswear ..."
There are 23 marriages in the DFHS marriages between 1754 - 1812 for Creese
and 17 baptisms 1813 -1839 both of which would be worth getting .
