Am new to this list and just want to put my family names out for a start, as
have inherited all my Dad's files, books and wills, etc. My Dad (who passed
away in May) was Dr. E. Rendle Bowness and his mother was a Lidstone. They
came to Prince Edward Island in Canada in the early 1800's and Dad had
contributed a lot to a hard cover book published in Devon on the Lidstones.
I also have a lot of information on the Tuplins and the Rendles, with all
the variant spellings.
Bowness is from Whitehaven in Northern England and the Dumfries area. Have
some Wills and documents for that line.....also a 1640 Will for a Durant,
who is related somehow, but not sure which of the 4 lines. I remember Dad
talking about a Norman French ancestor. Sure wish he was still here to ask
questions of, as he spent at least 20 years researching both thru the LDS
and by long vacations in England and Scotland.
So at this time am trying to read thru the files and books and if anyone
would like any info or has any to share, would be pleased to hear from you.
I got started on my husband's spanish name 18 months ago and am now
thoroughly hooked. Next in his side are Coopers from Dover.....sounds like
Heather Figueroa (Bowness)
