I try to access devon fhs website
But my browser or whatever is allergic to this site.
I get as far as the Banner downloading then the programme shuts down
Is there an alternative text only site??
or are people without the latest net programmes just not able to enter??
(at the moment it isn't such a disadvantage to not have the latest browser
as the viruses seem to target them??)
I would like to see what they have and perhaps join.
Do I have to revert to snail mail??
I fear you do. I've got quite up-to-date versions of both Internet
Explorer and Netscape on my Apple Mac, but the DFHS Parish Finder map
only works on Netscape. The site is basically very good, but could
definitely do with more testing on various browsers, and indeed a
low-tech (possibly text-only) version. My own view is that designers
of web sites catering for genealogists should take special care to
allow for the possibility that their readers will include those with
eyesight problems, and people with low-end, and less than
fully-modern, equipment. And you give another good reason for
avoiding some of the latest PC software! :-)
However I do recommend that you do join the DFHS, and also that you
ask them to inform their web-site manager of your difficulties.
