The hamlet of Alwington does still exist. It is very close to Clovelly, just
off the main road on the way back to Bideford from there. It is quite close
to Ford & Fairy Cross and Parkham.

Hello Devon Listers.
At last the sun has returned, so not much computing today until it goes to
I can't find Alwington, Bideford, in my collection of maps. Can one of
kind and knowledgeable Listers tell me please: Does Alwington still
under this name? A Census entry for an ancestor who officially was born,
died and buried in Clovelly, Bideford, has his birthplace stated to be
Alwington, Bideford, in the 1851 Census. So is/was Alwington near enough
Clovelly to be classified as Clovelly?
I am off to work on my car now, and get a dose of Vitamin C via that
ball of fire hanging in the nearly cloudless sky! No doubt I'll
hour or so, to see if someone knows the answer to this one. We
genealogy addicts just can't keep off the keyboard can we?
