Jerry and Barbara, thank you so much for the help. I had forgotten
this quirk of some early surveys. Worked beautifully.
Check the conversion factor for "c" chain. Some uses have
it as 1/2
the standard. If it were twice in the plat then the area would be a
factor of 4 larger and that may be your problem.
You may not be dealing with a Gunter's chain which equaled 4
but rather Rathbone's chain which equaled 2 poles. Try substituting
and see if it doesn't work out better.
