Susi,
A few additional comments on BootCamp. Yes, you need Windows no matter
what, I would recommend Windows 7 if you can afford it. I run many PC
programs on the PC partition, such as The Master Genealogist (TMG), Quicken,
Microsoft Office, etc. The one concern I have is that there doesn't seem to
be a good way to back up the image of the BootCamp partition other than
using a free, unsupported program called Winclone, which I haven't tried
yet, but others say it works. You can, of course back up the files using
the Windows utility or something similar. I am considering switching to
Parallels, you can download it and try it free for 14 days. The other day,
I saw Bob Velke, the creator of TMG, demonstrate TMG v.8 using Parallels on
a MAC, and it worked very well.

Susi,
BootCamp is a built-in application on MACs, so one doesn't need to buy a
separate piece of software. Anyone wanting to run Windows on a MAC - using
BootCamp, Parallels, or something else - will need to purchase the Windows
operating system. For this reason, I use Windows XP which can be bought at
a reasonable price.
A disadvantage of BootCamp is that you cannot run both Windows and MAC
simultaneously; the user needs to close one operating system and open the
other.
Parallels permits one to run Windows as a "virtual machine." This means
that you can easily switch between MAC-based software and Windows-based
software at the click of a mouse. Indeed, you can share files between the
two systems. However, Parallels will cost you some additional money -
roughly $80.
So far we have been talking about Parallels; there is a similar product -
VMWare Fusion - which supposedly does the same thing. It is probably pretty
good; I just don't know.
If you opt for BootCamp, there is a built-in procedure in the MAC operating
system for making a partition for Windows. If you elect Parallels, the
process boils down to following the prompts after starting the program.
Thereafter, installing Windows is pretty easy - insert the Microsoft CD /
DVD and follow those instructions.
Bottom line, if you run Windows in full-screen mode, the only way you would
know that you were on a MAC is the slightly different keyboard and mouse,
and the MAC-like icons at the bottom of the screen.
Hope this helps.

Is it possible to give us a more in depth process of how you do this for
a MAC. I
understand I need to buy Parallels to do the one method do I need
to purchase something to use Ken's method. We would love to present this to
our members but we need some guidance here.
