I am using Version 3 but sounds as if I surely need to upgrade. I did the
search you suggested and the file I did as a "save as" does NOT show up in
the search. However that file DOES still show up in the "open" option (under
the file menu) and I can still open it within the program! It has a yellow
icon like a lock on it though. What does that mean?
Since I can't access that updated file anywhere other than within the
program I guess I can't transfer it to my XP computer and all that work is
lost. I tried doing a "save as" again and ironically, it works.....it shows
up just like the first "save as" file (within the program itself) but when I
go into the "C" drive/Program files/Deedmapper folder NEITHER of the two
files are there and they do NOT show up in a search. It is like they exist
temporarily but not physically.
Still can't get the area button to work either. When I click on it the
button the whole window acts as if I am being directed to a new page but the
same page comes back up almost instantly but without the area displayed.
Beginning to believe my nephew computer guru is right. We are living on an
ancient Indian Burial Ground! URGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!

Len c=33 worked like a charm! I would have never figured that out. It
like a much quicker fix than changing all the calls to poles and it
Thank you VERY MUCH for such an easy solution. Still have two problems
1. The acreage button has not been as easily solved. When I select a
and open the display window, the word "area" is checked like it should be
but no area shows up on the parcel like it used to. Clicking on the
"display" menu shows the word "area" checked like it should be. I
noticed when I click on the area button, the screen flickers but quickly
returns but still with no area given. That never happened before this past
weekend. I am running Windows7 and just realized the help feature won't
either. Both these issues just started. I also have a computer with XP
running Deedmapper that gives me no problem. Could the problem be within
2. I have multiple projects in Deedmapper with different names. Last night
I worked on the Windows7 computer updating a Deedmapper project for 3
but when I closed the window to that project it did NOT save the work even
though I had hit the save icon during the time the work was being done. I
soon found I have to close the complete program for it to save the work.
that normal? I redid the work and did a "save as" which worked however,
I went to open the file, it was not listed under the "File" menu where the
other files are. I then clicked on the "open" option under the file menu
found the file I was looking for. It had a little yellow lock on it but it
opened just fine.
However, when I went into the computer "C" drive /program files to the
folder, my "saved-as" file was not there. HELP! I wanted to copy that
"saved-as" file where the latest work was saved to my XP computer so I
make sure it was backed up. I am beginning to believe Windows 7 is not so
dependable. Any help would be appreciated on both issues.

Had assumed you were on version 4.0 or 4.1, both of which run fine on
It does sound like there is some kind of issue with version 3 and
a bit surprising and the symptoms are troubling. I'd investigate but am
install version 3 on our Win 7-64 machines.
You can locate all deed files on your C: drive by bringing up Windows
It's the large folder icon next to the Start icon. Select the C: drive
MBL in the search field. Let's hope you can find the file you saved!
As Steve said, you can find your MBL files through Windows Explorer
Search and then move them to where you want them. Or, once you have
found them (probably in your (user name)/Documents folder), you may
want to create a sub-folder there for all your deed files and thus
adapt DeedMapper and Win7 more closely to each other. You may still
have to check that the correct folder is used when you save a file,
but it will be simpler to change if you that is needed.
Hope this helps -
