I came across Deed Mapper today and wanted to ask some questions
before I purchased it.
I have used similar programs in the past, but they were freeware
from the early 1990's, I'm sure such programs have advanced.
Not much advancement that I have seen. There is a review of
DeedMapper posted on Ancestry.com
First, is the only way to order the program via mail? I didn't
a download capability, simply a mail order form.
I believe it is available at some software retailers, but I don't
know off-hand. You could contact:
Direct Line Software
71 Neshobe Rd.
Newton, MA 02468
Or call them at: (617) 527-9566
Secondly, looks like there is a libray - so to speak - of lands
already plotted. On the download of such I did (Spotsylvania Co
VA), I noticed a location number (for example: loc -5478 -11774 F127 L0 P255.)
It just so happens land I am wanting to plot borders the above
mentioned land. Does that mean if I order the program, I can put in
the unique location numbers of land already plotted, and this will
plot to a topo map?
Yes, you will need to download the plots from the Deep Pool on the
web site and load it in your system. The maps from Direct Line
Software are basic maps without feature names, but many DeedMapper
users load their own topo maps.
Hope this helps -
