Again I have a problem. I set up a folder in "My Documents"
to store images
and DM files. When I go to the DM files and select "open with DM" I get a
message "File tips.txt was not found", yet when I look at the
states "opens with DM". Immediately I get the message that DM has
problem and an error message should be sent.
What do I do?
From what you say, I don't really know as I don't get any of what you state.
Assuming that you have the current version of DeedMapper (4.0) and it
is installed in the default installation setting then use Windows
Explorer or My Computer and navigate to the program folder (will be
at C:\Program File\Direct Line Software\DeedMapper 4.0) and check
that the folder contain a file named "Tips.txt". It should be a 6KB
file. If this is the file that you checked Properties on then I
don't know where it would state "opens with DM". The file is a plain
text file and if you double-click on the file in Windows Explorer or
My Computer then it will open in NOTEPAD.
If the Tips.txt file is not in the program installation folder then
DeedMapper will attempt to install it from the installation CD and
ask for it (the CD) to be inserted. In such a case, I would try
re-installing and insert the installation CD.
If you don't want to try re-installing, you can create a fake
Tips.txt file. Open NOTEPAD, and enter the sentence below in it:
The fastest way to learn to use DeedMapper is to run the Video
Tutorials. Open the Help menu and select Video Tutorials.
You can use copy/paste of the above sentence. After the sentence is
entered, select File=>Save As and name the file Tips.txt and place it
in the program installation folder where DeedMapper.exe is
located. This only gives you one tip, but it will allow DeedMapper to open.
Hope this helps -
