I am working on a project that requires migrating a large project/database
created using DeedMapper software over for use in ESRI's ArcGIS software,
and am wondering if anyone in this community has done this before? I am
aware of the 'kml' export option in DM, and have used that to export data
that could be converted and displayed in ArcGIS. There are a number of
problems with this approach, unfortunately, including the fact that actual
polygons are not created for the tracts (I end up with a file consisting of
lines, and another of points), and the text of interest, which was entered
as 'comments' in DM, does not make its way over with the kml file, which is
not a surprise. The dataset to be migrated is pretty massive so any
solution to this problem is going to need to be efficient- in other words
doing it tract by tract is not realistic. I realize this likely an unusual
request, having contacted the developers of DM and searching the archives
before posting, but figure its!
worth a try and maybe someone out there will have a ready solution or
helpful suggestion. Thanks for reading!
