Yes, it is a function of the variance. But, completely correcting for
variance is essentially impossible. There are local, even regional,
deviations from the predicted formulas which make complete corrections
impossible to know.
There is a way to include individual as well as global variance in DM
plots. Don't have time this morning to give procedure. If no one else
does, I'll reply more later today.

Most of my surveys mention about 3 degrees sometimes as high as 3 degrees 50
minutes. Are the maps set to true north and the surveys magnetic north? Is
there a way to rotate a plot the amount of the variance specified?
