I concur with Margaret, primarily because the 44.72 chain measurement
is used for 200 acre square plats, and thus might well be the
measurement of a line of an adjoining 200 acre square plat. Many, if
not the majority, of the original SC colonial grants were square plats.
I can see the great usefulness of DeedMapper (which I just received in the
mail yesterday), but am having trouble understanding how to use the

Are there some user websites that offer tips? I did go through the
tutorials, and have no problem entering my metes and bounds data (well,
except for those pesky "thence to John Hunter's NE corner" remarks, instead
of a direction and number of poles).
Thanks for any suggestions of places to go to learn to use the software more
