The DeedMapper file doesn't have a field for the coordinates of
beginning point, at least not in the text file, not that I have found
anyway. Where does it keep this information?
It's in the .mbl file, but not displayed by DeedMapper. If you open the
.mbl file with a text editor such as Notepad or Wordpad, you will see it as
"loc". It's not Lat/Long, but rather the x and y coordinates from a
point in tenths of a perch. I suppose that an added feature of DeedMapper
could be to display the lat/long of the start point ro any point. As more deeds
and plats include the coordinates of each point and people use GPS, it may
be useful to be able to enter and display the points as coordinates (rather
than traditional metes and bounds), but, as I understand, there are
different coordinate systems.
