I've "lost" a relative in 1729/30 city of New Castle, DE. Robert EYRE
purchased two lots in the city of New Castle in 1726 from James MEREWETHER
and John FRENCH.
" ... the lower end of the city of New Castle bounded by the river
Delaware, the marsh, a lot lately belonging to James MEREWETHER ... " and "
... all that lot of land in the city of New Castle bounded by Front Street,
adjoining an old fort & land of Col John FRENCH ... ".
In 1729 Robert EYRE sold the two lots to Francis LAND.
" ... certain lotts of land situate lying & being in the Town of
NewCastle afsd ... ... Commonly called the Town Marsh thence Beginning at
the North side of an apple tree upon Delaware side ... the front street
South sixty five degrees west eighty ... ... to a corner post of the
orchard late of Col FRENCH then north thirty degrees westerly twenty two
perches then north sixty five degrees east eighty one feet to a corner
stake there then south thirty degrees easterly twenty two perches to the
beginning. The other of the lotts is bounded on the south east with the
river Delaware on the west & north west ... the Marsh afsd & on the north
east with the first ... mentioned bounded ... ... to James MERREWETHER ... "
